Here's a peak to get you excited.<br />You can find more images on <a href="http://www.myspace.com/gallerythreesf">our MySpace page</a>.<br /><br /><br />Wall to wall, floor to ceiling, installation and utter chaos. The new occupant of DA Arts space is Bryan Schnelle, presenting a collection of pieces titled “CHAOS A.D.” A strangely deviant ski masked Kate Moss appears on a panel amidst 200 masked faces. Only able to see their lovely eyes, nose and mouth through the three circles that reveal their humanity can we guess who these people really are. What may seem so straight forward, leads me to assume people aren’t who we think they are. This visually overwhelming installation is set to a black room filled with painted words and phrases in old english style, various portraits, and infamous masked figures from floor to ceiling, wall to wall.<br /><br />The masked magazine cut outs have a certain aesthetic appeal that creates an uneasiness and uncertainty of the image. Oppositely, the painted and ink portraits are an assortment of friends and acquaintances each curiously paced in mug shot positions, as if guilty of a crime yet to be committed.<br /><br />With a cynical twist of dark humor that question’s everything from pop culture, politics and even the end of the world, Bryan Schnelle’s answer is “nothing is what is seems, people aren’t who you think they are, don’t trust [anything], and question everything".<br /><br />In Bryan Schnelle’s first solo show in San Francisco, “CHAOS A.D.” should entertain, instigate conversation and make you a bit uneasy about the world we live in. Opening reception takes place on Friday August 15th, 2008 from 7-11pm and will be showing through September 13th, 2008 at DA Arts.
